Study Abroad at Franklin College
Franklin College Switzerland is perfectly located in the heart of Europe in Lugano, Switzerland, on the Swiss/Italian border. We are an American four-year liberal arts college, offering a U.S. and Swiss accredited Bachelor of Arts Degree. Franklin places extraordinary emphasis on cross-cultural perspectives, an emphasis designed to affect the direction and meaning of a student's college experience, life and career. A commitment to courses of study that are international in perspective and cross-cultural in content has been the cornerstone of our educational mission since our founding in 1969. In fact, we classify this need as the international imperative in education.
Franklin College overlooks Lake Lugano, and the foothills of the Swiss Alps. Just minutes from the Italian border, the College is an hour from Milan, and is ideally located for weekend travel to Florence, Venice, Nice, Zurich and Geneva. As a degree granting institution, the College offers a full range of academic course work, and welcomes study abroad students for the fall and spring semesters as well as for two summer sessions. Semesters begin in late August and mid-January and two 4-week summer sessions are held in June and July. All credits are transferable to U.S. based colleges and universities, as well as to most universities throughout the world. A special feature is our signature academic travel program—two weeks of travel each semester with a professor to destinations in Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, Asia and the US.
With over 65 nationalities represented in the student body Franklin provides a unique international and cross-cultural learning experience. To learn more about learning opportunities, see our programs of study
