Renowned British Professor to Hold Seminar on International Political Economy at Franklin

Professor Ajit Singh from Queens' College, Cambridge discusses globalization and industrial revolutions in India and China.
Monday, November 5, 2007 3:30-5:00 pm North Campus Conference Room The Franklin College Area of Economics and Finance has invited Singh to present a Franklin Seminar in International Political Economy. Singh's discussion will focus on implications for national and international economic policy of globalization, industrial revolutions in India and China, and labor markets in advanced countries. Singh has been a senior economic adviser to the governments of Mexico and Tanzania and a consultant to various UN developmental organizations, including the World Bank, the ILO, UNCTAD and UNIDO. He currently teaches economics and is a Senior Fellow at Queens' College, Cambridge. Singh's research falls into three broad areas: studies relating to the modern corporation and theory of the firm, including corporate organizations, corporate finance and the market for corporate control; "de-industrialization" and structural change in advanced and developing economies; north-south competition; industrialization and economic policy in emerging markets. He is the author and editor of several books, as well as scholarly monographs and has also published nearly one hundred articles in academic journals and another hundred articles in various book collections.
