Our students explore the full spectrum of human knowledge.

AcademicsFranklin’s core curriculum enables students to explore the range of disciplines that inform educated human beings. Core studies at Franklin begin with the First Year Experience: Crossing Borders, an integrated program which assists incoming students in making the transition from secondary school to university, while introducing students to a challenging and purposeful multi-cultural and international academic learning environment. Faculty members are appointed for their diverse approach to the sharing of knowledge, for their breadth of perspective and their ability to bridge the gaps between various academic areas. Many of our courses are interdisciplinary in nature.

While the College is dedicated to the values of liberal education, Franklin also recognizes the need to introduce students to the professional world through specific courses, guest lectures and co-curricular activities. Most majors offer enough flexibility for students to partially design their own plans of study. See our course catalog in this section.

Close faculty-student contact is essential to Franklin’s educational philosophy. The College is designed to ensure student-teacher interaction from the beginning. The exceptional student-faculty ratio makes learning at Franklin College an intensive and personal endeavor.

An integral part of the Franklin curriculum is the Academic Travel Program, which encourages students to learn by experience. Find out more about required Academic Travel.
