Visual and Communications Arts
The major in Visual and Communication Arts is largely based upon that element of human experience referred to as perception. This perception begins with an experience of Europe itself, its peoples, cultures, words, images and sounds. It aims to form connections among those courses which have communication and creativity as fundamental elements. To a large degree individually designed, this liberal arts major may be seen as preparation for entry into graduate programs in the areas of modern languages, literature, art history or a combination of these, or as preparation for eventual careers in areas such as the media, advertising and public relations. With its strong emphasis on foreign language plus other components, it also forms a strong liberal arts educational background for a person who might wish to consider executive training in a number of fields, or who may wish to eventually apply for an M.B.A. Program. CORE REQUIREMENTS (35+/- CREDITS) The Intercultural Competencies and one or more of the Social Responsibility requirements may be fulfilled through courses in the major.
