Franklin Overview
Franklin College is perfectly located in the heart of Europe in Lugano, Switzerland, on the Swiss/Italian border. Beyond its unbelievable beauty and climate—palm trees set against snow-capped Alps—
one of the most exciting benefits to young scholar-travelers is our central location. We’re literally just a train ride away from major capitals throughout Europe.
At Franklin, academic programs are designed in the tradition of a U.S. liberal arts college, but given Franklin’s location in the center of Europe, all of our courses of study have a distinct international and cross-cultural perspective.
An independent American liberal arts institution, Franklin College offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in a wide range of areas of study. It is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and it is the only American university whose programs are fully accredited in Switzerland by the Swiss University Conference, so summer credits from Franklin are easily transferable to schools in both the US and internationally.
