Academic Support and Leadership Opportunities

Portfolio Program

Students can work one-on-one with a trained writer to develop a writing portfolio before graduation. A collection of polished writing samples is useful when seeking employment or applying to a graduate school.

The Publishing Component

The Writing and Learning Center helps students publish their work in newspapers, journals and elsewhere. Students receive personalized support in identifying potential publishers and in submitting their work. Those in creative writing courses and the Literary Society are encouraged to explore this option.

The Mentorship Program

Students in the Mentorship Program meet with a Writing and Learning Center Director once a week to achieve self-determined writing goals. In recent years, for example, a student in this program wrote an original play and then directed and produced it at Franklin.
