Anu Eusebius '91

After graduating from an international high school in her native India, Anu Eusebius '91 applied to colleges all over the United States, the United Kingdom and the world, but "Franklin stood out by a mile from anything else I was looking at. It was hard to beat an American college in Switzerland by anyone's standards," says Anu. She attended Franklin on the Dean's Scholarship and majored in International Business with a minor in Economics.

Anu, who moved to Australia shortly after graduating, began work in multinational Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies like H.J. Heinz and McCormick Foods. She is now employed by Kimberly-Clark in category management, working with numbers and market data which she analyzes, enabling the business to react quickly to opportunities or threats based on the current market. She also finds consumer behavior very interesting, having worked in sales in several industries prior to moving into category management.

A great deal of what Anu learned at Franklin has helped her in her job on a daily basis. "The courses I took for International Business set the foundation for the work I do now, especially in the areas of statistics, data analysis, finance, and in preparing effective presentations," says Anu. "I have found that being exposed to so many different cultures in the international schools I went to (both in India and in Switzerland) gave me the confidence to deal with people at many different levels in the business world." Franklin"s small classes, which provided contact with a multitude of memorable professors in an intimate setting, were also were instrumental in Anu's positive learning experience.

The one thing her time at Franklin could not teach her was getting used to Australia's vastness. "The town where I grew up in India was a hill station near the Himalayas and then I moved to Lugano - both very picturesque and small," says Anu. "It was a bit of a shock moving to Australia with all the wide open space, but it has grown on me. Melbourne is also a very pretty and safe city. The Australian people are very down to earth and friendly."

In her spare time Anu enjoys relaxing with a good book and traveling. She recently joined a Boot Camp exercise program, which pushes her outside of her comfort zone. She loves the group and exercising outdoors.

Anu cherished her time at Franklin, saying, "I continue to be amazed at the depth of friendships which were forged almost 20 years ago." Having attended multiple international institutions, she learned that people are the same all over the world and no amount of space or time can come between real friends. As she reminisces, Anu recalls, "I have found it fascinating to look back and realize how little you know when you graduate! Franklin is a time and place I will never forget."
