Franklin Fund ResultsThanks to the generosity of Franklin's many supporters, the Franklin Fund finished another successful fundraising year on June 20, 2010. Bequest GiftFranklin College has received a generous bequest from the estate of the late Ashleigh E. Cocks, who studied abroad in Lugano as part of the Fleming program in the mid-1960s. Valedictorian GiftThis year’s graduating class valedictorian, Nicholas Hasko ’09, received not only the top honors distinction but also a prize watch from Grimoldi Milano, generously donated by alumna Chen Chu ’03. Senior Class Gift 2009The Class of 2009 graduated in May but left behind a tribute to Franklin – the senior class gift. This year the seniors voted on a water fountain in the North Campus Academic Building. The senior class gift campaign, led by class representative Emily Boynton of Aurora, Colorado, raised more than $2,600 to sponsor the installation of the fountain. Read More... | |
Malhas Family GiftsMr. and Mrs. Ammar Malhas know the value of a Franklin College education, having entrusted both of their daughters to the College as students. F. Allen and Louise K. Turner Foundation GiftDr. Louise Turner, founder of the F. Allen and Louise K. Turner Foundation of Auburn, Alabama, recently contributed a gift to host an environmental creative writing workshop entitled “The Prose of Place: Landscape in Nonfiction.” The workshop will be led by acclaimed author Gary Ferguson, former interpretive naturalist for the U.S. Forest Service. Fowler Library Opens on North CampusThanks to the generosity of Angela W. Fowler ’75, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Franklin College Switzerland now has a solution to the ever-escalating burden placed on our existing library resources with the establishment of the Fowler Library. Faber and Lowerre Families Fund Design CenterFranklin College students are now using state-of-the- art equipment and software for graphic design projects. A donation from Mr. and Mrs. Claus Faber (parents of Marc Faber ’07) and their business, CMF Advertising, along with a challenge gift from Trustee Paul Lowerre ’75 and his wife Ursula ’76, made the creation of the design center possible. Tone Family Establishes Trust for Athletic CenterTrustee Pascal Franchot Tone was one of the founders of Franklin College, served as its President from 1973 to 1979 and is currently head of the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees. Mosler Global Economic ForumSeveral years ago, Mr. Warren Mosler visited the Franklin College Campus as a guest lecturer at the invitation of Professor Andrea Terzi. Peppler Assistantships Provide Seed Funding for Proposed InstituteTrustee, Dr. Willem Peppler of Montagnola, Switzerland has funded the Peppler Assistantships to provide seed funding for an Institute for Culture, Innovation and Communications.
