Save me a seat! Franklin College students and alumni have many fond memories of time spent in the auditorium—whether for a class, a play, a lecture or the Travie Awards.

Naming Opportunity

Franklin’s auditorium is a core component of the College in addition to being one of the most highly visible common spaces on campus. As such, the auditorium offers a unique naming opportunity for an alum, a company or a foundation. The donor’s name would be published on all promotional information regarding lecture series, plays, conferences and other events held in the space. This naming opportunity would include funds for the renovation as outlined below and an endowment to help offset future upgrades and improvements to the space.

Renovation

The auditorium is currently used for classroom instruction, academic conferences, the Fall and Spring Lecture Series, fall and spring Theatrical Society productions, the annual Travie Awards, Student Leadership and Academic Awards Ceremonies, and more. It is utilized in some way by everyone at Franklin—students, faculty, staff, friends and the local community. The desired improvements would include a new lighting system, video conferencing capabilities and a new audio-visual system.

Video conferencing would offer particularly interesting opportunities. The College could feature guest lecturers and speakers from around the world, while students would be able to work on joint projects with students from other institutions worldwide. The video conferencing capabilities could also be used for Trustee conferences and for interviews when trying to fill a vacancy with a candidate located on another continent. This investment would save resources normally spent on transportation and would open avenues of intellectual exploration not currently available. We could also share our wealth of talents (faculty, students and staff) with other universities and institutions regardless of geography. A recognition plaque would be designed and prominently displayed in the auditorium.
