Scholarly Activity

Pursuing an undergraduate degree is more than just preparing for a career. It is also the first step in the development of an educated, intellectual viewpoint that will always be part of a graduate's perspective. At Franklin, the multicultural environment forms the seed from which this viewpoint will emerge, while every additional class, travel experience, conference or lecture provides sustenance and allows further growth.

Scholarship is the academic achievement and state of being that one acquires through study. Projects, events and speakers that go above and beyond classroom discussions and quotidian conversations over cappuccino provide sustenance for the continued scholarly activity of faculty and students. Events like the Caribbean Conference produce both intellectual benefits for students and faculty, and visibility for Franklin. A talented speaker for the graduation ceremony is a final source of inspiration for graduating students as they go forward into their futures as scholarly thinkers. By supporting scholarly activities, alumni and friends of Franklin can help augment the quality and kinds of intellectual nourishment offered on the Franklin campus, while at the same time contributing to the reputation and prestige of the College.
