Career exploration is a vital first step of the career preparation process. As you explore your values, interests and strengths through individual assessments and individual career counseling sessions with the Assistant Dean of Student Life, Ebonie Rayford, you can:

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) Assessment

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment is the most widely used personality assessment in the world. With a proven record of reliability spanning more than 50 years, it offers a foundation for understanding individual differences and applying that understanding to the ways people think, communicate, and interact. Versatile and dependable, the MBTI tool sets the stage for lifelong learning and development.

The MBTI assessment is used to develop individuals, teams and organizations to meet today's challenges in such areas as communication, team building, leadership, and career management. Use your results from the MBTI to help you make the most of your college experience! The results can help you to:

  • Better understand yourself, your friends, roommates, and professors.
  • Identify your unique style of learning and find effective ways for studying, taking tests, and writing papers.

Strong Interest Inventory (SII)

Making college  life satisfying and rewarding requires both selecting the right academic major and creating a campus and community life that is personally enriching. The Strong Interest Inventory takes the wealth of career interest data provided that helps students explore the path that is right for them by identifying specific college courses, jobs or internships, and extracurricular activities that will allow them to express their unique interests and personal style. The assessment offers step-by-step advice on how to evaluate academic majors that fit their interests and preferences provides extra help for college students beginning to prepare themselves for success in the world of work.
