Student Assembly
The Student Assembly of Franklin College Switzerland The Student Assembly of Franklin College Switzerland is the elected government of the student body. Comprised of 21 student representatives popularly elected by their peers and additional four members elected in the previous term to the Executive Board, the Student Assembly seeks to represent all students of Franklin College, regardless of race, color, nationality, gender, religion or ability. Representation is divided among the residences with two additional At-Large reps, two Off Campus Reps, one Study Abroad Rep, and one Resident Assistance Rep. The Executive Board of the Student Assembly is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Assembly is divided into four Committees each headed by a member of the Executive Board: Academics and Policy(President), Community Development and Initiatives(Vice President), Budget and Inventory (Treasurer), and Events and Public Relations(Secretary). Meeting once a week, the Student Assembly seeks to be the voice of the Student Body and provide representation therein to the Faculty and Administration. The Assembly does this through constant consultation with its constituents and dialog with the Faculty and Administration. In addition, the Student Assembly undertakes projects of it own in order to improve the daily lives of the student body. The Student Assembly also sponsors student clubs in order to promote student activities on campus. In is through these methods that the Student Assembly of Franklin College work in a manner befitting of international nature of the school and in the best interests of the student body of Franklin College Switzerland. Each student is an integral part of the Franklin College community, a microcosm of international society that is as rich as it is diverse in its intellectual pursuits, personal devotions, moral credence, and cultural heritages. While each of us may have varying goals and beliefs, the common bond we share is the opportunity to expand our cultural horizons by being a part of Franklin College Switzerland. To this end, we heed the words of Benjamin Franklin: “If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write things worth the reading, or do things worth the writing.”
Therefore, we, the Student Body of Franklin College, do hereby establish a college-wide student government to reflect and represent the student body’s recognized academic, social, and community needs and interests.
