Projects
The Garden Project
The Franklin Campus Garden Project is one of several sustainable initiatives introduced by CSI Franklin in 2010. A collaboration of students and faculty is currently drafting a formal proposal for a multiphase organic garden project which aims to expand on a yearly basis. The ultimate goals of this project are:
- to reduce Franklin's ecological footprint through providing a local and organic food source for campus dining services
- to provide a tangible, telluric classroom for environmental science and food-related courses
- to increase community awareness of the importance of sustainable agricultural networks and their relationship to the environment
Franklin Food Services Assessment
Interns at the center are assessing of the viability of switching to seasonal and locally grown produce to support local farmers and reduce Franklin’s ecological footprint.
The Recycling Project
This report seeks to examine, analyze and provide suggestions for the future of Franklin College's recycling programs. By analyzing the student, faculty and staff opinions through a survey while consulting Swiss regulations and practices for recycling, we hope that this proposal will provide mutually agreeable and legally satisfactory suggestions for a new and improved recycling system on the Franklin campus.
